Zelina Hockey Club was founded with first performances in 1955. In 1973 the club won the double crown: the title of State Champions and Cup of Yugoslavia. From then on, Hockey Club Zelina is at the very top of the hockey sport. In its rich sports history, the club has played over 6000 games in all categories. 1000 registered players played in the club over a period of time. In the official competitions of Yugoslavia and Croatia, the club won first place or the cup 33 times, second place 27 times and 22 times the third place or the cup finalist. Statistically speaking, over 50 years, club won nearly two state championship or cup a year, as the highest recognition in the Hockey sport.

At the end of August 2009., Damir Hrupec was elected as the president of the Hockey Club Zelina.

New leadership announced specific actions to return the old glory of the club with stability and security in attending the league and cup competitions but also to introduce and popularize this once very popular sport through hockey school in Zelina.
